Our first Day in England: Leeds Castle
By Frieda Sasse and Paula Raatz, 7a
In the morning, Günter (our bus driver) took us to Leeds Castle. When we arrived, we saw that Leeds Castle wasn´t only a castle, it was more like a park with different attractions. So, around the castle were beautiful parks and gardens. There also was a labyrinth or maze, and a very big playground which was built like a castle.
We waited about ten minutes at the ticket office. When we were allowed to go in, we first walked through a little park. We saw many things and what we saw was amazing. There were ducks which came out of a little lake and strange plants or flowers. The path we walked along led us to the castle. But we walked past it and kept walking straight onto a big meadow. The teachers told us about the program:
First, we were supposed to go on a tour through the castle. Then, we would be allowed to have time on our own to explore Leeds Castle, the maze, the parks and the playground (and maybe also the ice-cream parlor?). We went to the castle and waited for the tour. After five minutes a guide let us in. The funny thing was that we had to wear our backpacks forwards, but it had a reason because nothing should be stolen and we shouldn’t break anything with fast moves.
The castle was amazing! The rooms were royally furnished and beautifully decorated. The dining rooms had long tables and the chairs were upholstered and decorated. All in all, the castle was very beautiful, and we had fun exploring the rooms. Afterwards, we had time on our own. Many kids went in the maze first. It was harder than you would think! But we think everyone made it . The exit of it was a tower from which you could watch the people in the maze. This was very funny to watch! At the end we left the maze through a little grotto, which was dark and had little waterfalls. Next, some people sat down in the deckchairs to eat and others went to the playground and played catch until the end. We think the time on our own was a great idea of the teachers, because everyone could do what they wanted to do. At last, we went to the castle shop. There, many of us bought souvenirs for our families. We got on the bus and went to the beach of Whitstable. There we had a rally through the city and played at the beach.
All in all, this day was one of our favourite trips and we´re happy that we went there and were able to have this great experience.
Our second day: London
By Fabian Oberhofer, 7b
In the morning, we met at the bus at 8am as usual. It was a rainy morning but it stopped raining when we arrived in London. We drove two hours to London. When we arrived, we soon started our boat trip on the river Thames. The tour took about one hour and we saw the London Eye, the Elizabeth Tower and the Tower Bridge. After that, we visited St James’s Park where we had about one hour of free time. But we soon went on: We took photos in front of Buckingham Palace and then walked towards Piccadilly Circus.
After that, we had some free time in Covent Garden. Some of us visited the Lego shop, the candy shop and other shops like that, while others just walked around a bit and looked for some souvenirs. After those hours, we met at the London Transport Museum and then walked back to the river Thames where our bus driver picked us up.
For most of us, it was the best day during our whole trip.
Our third Day: Canterbury
By Ben Fisher, 7c
On the morning of the third day we went to Canterbury by bus. We did a rally and we had to take pictures in front of some buildings. When we had finished the rally we were allowed to explore the city by ourselves. Some of us went to a burger shop and bought hamburgers, they were delicious.
The girls went to Primark and bought pretty clothes. After about four hours we met at the meeting point.
At 4pm we arrived at the beach. The water was clear and lovely.
Some of us bought fish and chips and the sea gulls stole their food. Most of us were wet and the bus driver really wasn’t happy about that.
That was our day in Canterbury.
Our fourth day: London
By Simon Gensheimer, 7d
After we woke up on the last day in England, we got ready, packed our things and went to eat breakfast. Then we headed for our meeting point, put all our stuff on the bus and drove to London. After we got the tickets we went to the Tube but one student didn‘t get in so we had to wait for him. At the end he got the second tube and it ended well. After we arrived at the Tube station we had one hour of free time in London and our group went to Mc Donald’s. After Mc Donald’s we had to go to another Tube station but our group got lost.
As we arrived at the Tower Bridge we passed the security check and went upstairs into one of the towers. At the top we walked through the other tower over a glass floor with an amazing view. When we arrived at the at the Tower of London we were able to see the Crown Jewels, the Beafeaters and the Royal Guards. It was very fascinating. After that, some of us were able to explore the building a bit more and saw things like knights’ armours. After the Tower of London we went through the city in a red doubledecker bus Then we had two hours of free time to go shopping before our trip back to Germany. After we had had some free time, we headed back to the bus and went back to Germany.
